NWANDO ACHEBE, the Jack and Margaret Sweet Endowed Professor of History, and Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Faculty Development, and Strategic Implementation is an accomplished equity minded and transformative change academic leader. She is a multi-award-winning scholar-advocate historian and teacher at Michigan State University.

Achebe is a 2022-23 ACE Fellow and a 2022 HERS Leadership Fellow. She is also co-director of the Christie and Chinua Achebe Foundation, co-CEO of Achebe Masterworks, LLC, editor-in-chief of the Journal of West African History; Executive Board member of Association for the Study of the World Wide African Diaspora, past member of African Studies Association’s Board of Directors, and past co-convenor of ASA’s Women’s Caucus.
